Power Should Meet Summer Needs

5/22/2008 - San Diego Union Tribune

An electricity demand forecast for this summer concludes that California residents will have adequate power, even if the state experiences warmer-than-normal temperatures.

The report, released by the California Energy Commission, notes that conservation remains an important tool to help meet the statewide demand for electricity this summer.
Because air conditioners use approximately 30 percent of the state's total electricity consumption during peak summer hours, demand can increase significantly on hot days.
